Starter gear guide

FAQ

I can't skate at all. Where do I start?

Start with an adult learn-to-skate class (step 1). Panthers IceDen's Adult Skating Academy includes rental skates, and Boca Ice suggests adults completely new to skating take its Adult Learn to Skate first.

Do I need my own gear?

Usually. Boca Ice's Adult Learn to Play requires full equipment (not provided). The Florida Panthers Adult Learn to Play includes a full set of custom-fitted equipment to keep (some restrictions apply). See the starter gear guide.

Is a 'D league' for beginners?

Look for a beginner league first. Palm Beach Skate Zone's BHL Beginner League is designed mainly for Learn to Play graduates and newer players, and Pines Ice Arena has beginner/novice divisions. Ask about the level before you sign up.
