FAQ
I can't skate at all. Where do I start?
Start with an adult learn-to-skate class (step 1). Some learn-to-play programs, like Foundry's Get in the Game, also say they teach skating to people who have never skated.
Do I need my own gear?
Several programs listed here, such as Montclair State's Learn to Play and Union's open hockey, require full equipment. See the starter gear guide.
Is a 'D league' for beginners?
Not always. Some beginner-specific leagues exist, such as Foundry's Novice Draft League for Get in the Game graduates. Ask the rink about the level before you sign up.
