Starter gear guide

FAQ

I can't skate at all. Where do I start?

Start with an adult learn-to-skate class (step 1). Kraken Community Iceplex's Adult Learn to Skate needs no prior experience, and Sno-King's Adult Learn to Play 1 also requires no skating or hockey experience.

Do I need my own gear?

It depends. Sno-King's ALTP 1 needs skates and a helmet on day one, while the Kraken Community Iceplex's Adult Learn to Play and Sno-King's ALTP 2 require full gear. See the starter gear guide.

Is there a league for true beginners?

Yes. Kraken Hockey League divisions 9-10 are for beginner players, and Sno-King says its Adult Learn to Play prepares players for the Sno-King Adult Hockey League. Ask about the level before you sign up.
